I'll be moving into a school bus that I'm converting to a motor home and will be powering it mainly from 12 volts. I have a 1500 continuous, 3000 surge power inverter to power my computers and a couple other minor appliances. The rest will run on 12 volts. The plan is to have a large 12volt deep cycle battery bank to power everything, the alternator on the engine to charge while driving but when parked, the scooter motor and alternator. Eventually I plan to run solar system.
The scooter motor and alternator will simply be for battery recharging.
Most likely not what you want, try finding a small lawnmower engine, like a 5hp briggs. Mathematically 1hp=746 watts, and 746 watts equals 62 amps @ 12v, but that alternator is not 100% efficient and there is no way it will successfully power that alternator to its full potential.
Why not just run a few extra alternators off your bus's engine to recharge your batteries?
